USING YOUR DAT DRIVE
The DAT drive is very simple to use:
1. To save data to the tape, the window on the tape cartridge must be in the write enable position.
Figure 21 shows the tape window in both "write enable" and "write protected" positions.
2. The 4mm tape inserts as shown in Figure 21. As you insert the tape through the tape door, the
DAT drive takes over the load operation by mechanically pulling the tape cartridge into the load
position, just like your home VCR.
3. Once the tape is loaded, the status LEDs indicate the status of both the drive and the cassette.
4. Use the MTUSAV command to copy a few files onto a blank tape cartridge, and then use
MTURES to restore them into a different disk account, or onto another logical disk. Use
MTUDIR to list the files stored on the tape cartridge.
5. To unload the tape cartridge, press the tape eject button. The drive unloads and ejects the tape.
Please be patient! Depending on the model of your DAT drive, unloading and ejecting a tape
may take up to a minute to complete!
