AlphaDDE 1.1 Release Notes

AlphaDDE allows a Windows client application to communicate with its topic

server on an AMOS host.

AlphaDDE has two main components: SOCKS.LIT on the AMOS host and

ALPHADDE.EXE on the PC. SOCKS exchanges ITC messages with topic

servers while ALPHADDE.EXE exchanges DDE messages with client

applications. SOCKS and ALPHADDE.EXE send and receive IP messages via

AlphaTCP on the AMOS host and the TCP/IP stack on the PC.

AlphaDDE 1.1 maintains all support provided by AlphaDDE 1.0. This version

offers several new features, and is significantly faster. It also has some internal

changes in identifying each PC for the AlphaCONNECT product.

NEW FEATURES

The new features are listed below:

• Option to display the PIC code and maximum number of users authorized.

• More ways to bring up SOCKS.

• Larger DDE message size.

• Simplified ALPHADDE.INI file.

• Trace option on the AMOS host.

• No AlphaNET needed if AlphaTCP is using the new LDV drivers.

PIC CODES

AlphaDDE 1.1 still requires a PIC code when you bring up SOCKS.LIT the first

time on the AMOS host. However, if you are upgrading from version 1.0, you can

use your old PIC code.

You can enter SOCKS/P at any time to display your PIC and the maximum

number of allowed users.

COMPATIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS

Requirements remain the same as with AlphaDDE 1.0:

• AlphaTCP 1.1 or later
